Euphoric Refractions – Come and see it in person

Over the course of 5 weeks, artist-in-residence Ronnie Cheng has completed “Euphoric Refractions.” The piece was created with the support of passersby on the street directly outside the front door of CommunityWise Resource Centre, who were provided a simple prompt: “what brings you joy?” With this prompt, participants had the opportunity to add to a large fabric mural, which was then used to create animated visuals that were projection mapped onto the fabric.

“Euphoric Refractions” was created in response to the challenges of QTBIPOC life in an attempt to highlight both the political and life-changing powers of joy.

The piece will be available for public viewing in the building lobby from 10am to 5pm daily, starting on October 7 until October 11.

Join our Artist-in-Residence Ronnie Cheng!

Join our artist-in-residence, Ronnie Cheng, in a community mural-making session! This is an opportunity to connect with fellow QTBIPOC folks and make some art.

This session serves as a participatory element of Ronnie’s project during this residency, with the completed mural being used to create a media art installation piece, where digital animation will be projected on top of the mural.

All supplies will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own. No previous art experience necessary.
