On Wednesday (September 15) the Government of Alberta declared a state of public health emergency and announced new COVID-19 public health measures to address the 4th wave of the pandemic.
Though the resulting changes to CommunityWise’s existing protocols are minimal, we wanted to confirm that the following protocols are in place at the building until further notice:
- Face masks are mandatory for all building users (including members’ staff, volunteers, board members, participants, visitors, and clients) in both common areas (hallways, common room, etc.) and office spaces except when an individual is alone at a workstation/desk and separated by at least 2 meters distance from all other persons (however, it is highly recommended that individuals continue to wear masks and maintain at least 2 meters distance in their offices at all times).
- As a mandatory work-from-home measure has been reinstated by the government (unless the employer has determined that a physical presence is required for operational effectiveness), members are encouraged to work from home where possible.
- All individuals coming to the building for any reason should follow established practices including social distancing and not entering the building if sick. Conducting a COVID screening assessment of your own visitors is highly recommended.
CommunityWise will continue to provide disposable masks and hand sanitizer for everyone who comes to the building. These supplies are found in the front foyer and at each level of the building. If you would like a box of disposable non-medical masks, let us know and we would be happy to put some in your office or mailbox.
We rely on you as members to ensure that your staff, volunteers, board members, participants, visitors, and clients are aware of the necessity of following these mandatory protocols and we appreciate your cooperation in this. Due to the shifting nature of COVID in our communities we will continue to assess and communicate any further municipal and provincial requirements and our necessary responses.
Finally, everyone born in 2009 or before (turning 12+) can get their first and second vaccine doses now. Third doses are available to some people most at risk of severe illness. Not vaccinated yet? Get $100 if your first or second dose is received between September 3 and October 14.
