1. Welcome to Sobia and Kyla!
CommunityWise is again hosting students from Mount Royal University's social work program during January-April 2016. Please welcome Sobia and Kyla when you see them around the building! CommunityWise practicums are provided the opportunity to work with member groups. If you've got small projects or other opportunities practicums could be involved with, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to chat more!
2. Coat drive
The Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, in collaboration with CommunityWise, is hosting a winter coat drive throughout Winter 2015/2016. Anyone wishing to donate winter coats can place them in the marked bin by the mailboxes on the main floor. All coats will be shared with vulnerable people in Calgary needing coats for the winter season.
3. Basement construction update
Construction in the basement is ongoing and will continue throughout the month of January. Affected member organizations are being communicated with. We thank you for your patience.
4. We need your membership forms!
Action requested: Please print and sign a copy of each and return to the CommunityWise admin office as soon as possible if you haven't yet done so. Thank you to those member organizations who have submitted these required documents for our files. For tenant members, as outlined in our rental agreements, CommunityWise also requires proof of office insurance.
5. Canadian Mental Health Association's Community Helpers program is coming to CommunityWise!
On February 1 from 6:00 – 8:30pm CommunityWise will be hosting a FREE Community Helpers training session in collaboration with the Canadian Mental Health Association. Refresh your skills, learn something new, and meet other CommunityWise members! For this training, we will focus on the Helping Skill: knowing when to help, listening skills, ethics of helping, and limits! For more information or to sign-up, please email email@example.com
6. Calgary Outlink is hiring!
Calgary Outlink is looking to fill an Interim Executive Director position and is accepting applications until January 15. The job posting can be found at www.calgaryoutlink.ca.
7. Climate Leadership Program for Albertans
Next Up Leadership is launching a new program in Alberta. The Climate Leadership Program is intended to engage keen citizens in leadership training to explore and drive low carbon activities in their workplaces and communities. It will be a 5 weekend intensive program for folks 25 and older. It is to develop climate leadership in sectors outside of the traditional climate movement. There's an info session about the program coming up on January 14 at 7pm at CommunityWise.
