This email contains updated instructions for all CommunityWise members. It also includes a link to a 3 question survey. Please forward this message to anyone else in your group who needs to know this information.
Thank you for continuing to practice social distancing, avoiding holding meetings or other group gatherings at the building or elsewhere, and staying home when you feel unwell. We know the past two weeks have been challenging, but we see your efforts and appreciate all that you are doing to keep yourselves and our communities healthy.
Yesterday (Friday, March 27), the Chief Medical Officer of Health with the Government of Alberta issued an updated order outlining new restrictions and prohibitions to protect Albertans and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The resulting impacts to CommunityWise members are as follows (effective immediately):
–Any member coming to the building for any reason other than: picking up their mail; checking messages; or grabbing vital documents or equipment from their offices or storage must first check-in with a member of the staff collective by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or leaving a voicemail at 403-261-9660 for one of us to call you back to confirm that all public health guidelines, including social distancing measures, are being followed. Note that voicemail and email aren’t constantly monitored, so please provide as much advance notice as possible.
-Any two people in the building at the same time must remain a minimum of 2 meters distance from one another at all times (including inside member offices).
-If you are feeling unwell with any type of cough, fever, sore throat, or runny nose, please stay at home. No person who has symptoms of COVID-19 or who has traveled outside of the country in the past 14 days is permitted in the building at this time. Individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 must call 811 and stay at home in self-isolation.
The front doors of CommunityWise remain locked and the building is only accessible by key fobs and the intercom system. All bookable meeting spaces remain closed for any activity. Letter mail that is sent by Canada Post is still being sorted to member mail boxes, but there is no one in the admin office to sign for parcels. The staff collective continues to monitor the building, carry out additional sanitizing of shared spaces like hallways and bathrooms, and respond to member calls and emails remotely.
Despite these measures and your prompt actions, we recognise that this may not be enough. We know that around the world, many jurisdictions have enacted regulations closing all public spaces to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
While there has been no official declaration yet, we are asking that you consider now what course of action you and your organization would need to carry out, in order to continue with your important work, if the building was completely closed and your offices were no longer accessible. Adjusting to such uncertain times is no small task, and we hope that planning ahead in whatever ways we can will help us make the best decisions going forward. We commit to keeping you up to date with any new details we have to share.
